Our stand will be located in the show’s popular Technology Zone, where we’ll be discussing with delegates the various Brigade products that use the latest tech solutions to improve the safety of drivers, their passengers, and the road users around them.
In England, bus operators have embraced the many opportunities offered by technology: 97% of buses have an Automatic Vehicle Location device used to provide real-time tracking services, 91% now have CCTV, 43% are enabled for payment by contactless bank card, and 25% have free Wi-Fi. Brigade’s focus is on vehicle safety, and in this area technology has a hugely important part to play. Safety is always a hot topic at the Euro Bus Expo, for reasons that are very clear. In London alone, 25 people were killed in bus-related fatalities between 2015 to 2017, and two thirds of these were pedestrians. Nearly 12,000 were injured over the same period.
The high number of casualties prompted TfL (Transport for London) to launch a bus safety programme in 2016, aiming to reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured in bus related incidents by 70% within six years. The programme hopes to reduce the number of fatalities to zero by 2030.
How Brigade Electronics can help improve bus and coach safety
Our mission is to prevent injuries and save lives, and we do this by developing and patenting new safety products that can be retro-fitted to commercial vehicles, including bus and coach fleets. Our network of approved partners in the UK, Europe and across the world can ensure that products are fitted with the minimum of downtime for busy vehicles.
