Whether your vehicles are operating on construction sites, farmyards, waste and recycling facilities, or quarries, the potential for worksite danger is ever-present.
According to the Health and Safety Executive, Britain’s national regulator for workplace health and safety, on average each year seven workers die as a result of accidents involving vehicles or mobile plant on construction sites. A further 93 are seriously injured. These figures don’t take into account countless minor injuries or incidents that lead to downtime and consequent loss of productivity.
The law states that you must organise a construction site so that vehicles and pedestrians using site routes can move around safely. The term ‘vehicles’ includes cars, vans, lorries, low-loaders and mobile plant such as excavators, lift trucks and site dumpers.
