TVS Transport

Discover how TVS Transport improved fleet safety by integrating Brigade Electronics' AI reversing camera system directly into Volvo and Scania multimedia displays. This customer case study demonstrates how AI human detection, brand-independent trailer compatibility and integrated camera technology enhance rear visibility without adding extra cab monitors.

For transport companies, road safety is not only about technology, but also about practical usability. Drivers need to be able to respond quickly, vehicles must remain flexible in operation, and systems should not make the cab unnecessarily complex. This is especially important for tractor-trailer combinations, where trailers are regularly exchanged and a reliable, brand-independent solution is essential.

TVS Transport has been working with Brigade Electronics for some time to improve visibility around its vehicles. More than half of its trailers are now fitted with Brigade reversing cameras. In time, the remaining trailers will also follow. This marks a clear step by TVS Transport towards safer and more efficient fleet management.

A practical solution for both Volvo and Scania

TVS Transport’s requirement was clear: the reversing camera image needed to be displayed directly on the existing multimedia screens in both Volvo and Scania tractors, without adding an extra monitor in the cab. This called for a solution that was not only technically reliable, but also suited to the everyday reality of a transport company operating different vehicle makes.

Brigade developed a tailored solution using a coiled cable and automatic switch box. This allows tractor-trailer combinations to be exchanged independently of vehicle brand. The driver sees the camera image on the existing in-cab screen, so no additional display is required. This supports a clear working environment and helps the driver interpret the available information quickly.

Our engineer also adjusted the camera parameters to achieve full compatibility between Volvo and Scania. As a result, the solution fits the operational reality of TVS Transport: trailers need to remain flexibly deployable, without compromising visibility, ease of use or reliability.

AI cameras as active support when reversing

For TVS Transport, the reversing cameras are more than just a visual aid. The selected AI-supported camera technology automatically detects people behind the vehicle using human-form recognition. Brigade’s AI cameras are designed to identify people within a predefined detection zone and alert the driver visually and/or audibly. Detected people can also be highlighted with a coloured frame over the camera image, so the driver can see relevant information directly on the screen.

This technology responds to an important challenge in the transport sector: helping to reduce blind spots around large vehicles. Brigade’s camera monitor systems support drivers when manoeuvring and driving by clearly displaying camera images and, where required, automatically switching to relevant views, for example when reversing.

In practice, this means the driver does not need to rely on separate systems or additional screens during manoeuvres. The images are integrated into the existing vehicle environment. This makes the solution not only user-friendly, but also well suited to the way modern transport companies manage their fleets: efficiently, scalably and with a focus on safety.

Working together towards a safer fleet

The customer case at TVS Transport shows how tailored engineering and proven technology can strengthen one another. By combining Brigade cameras with a brand-independent integration solution, the result is a system suited to mixed fleets, changing trailer combinations and the everyday demands of transport operations.

For fleet managers and operations managers, this is valuable: existing vehicle infrastructure is used effectively, drivers retain a clear cab environment, and the organisation can invest step by step in additional safety systems. TVS Transport’s decision to equip a large proportion of its trailers first and then scale further demonstrates that vehicle safety can also be approached in a phased and practical way.
