Why Backsense® Radar Obstacle Detection for Commercial Vehicles and Machines?
Industries such as mining, quarrying, agriculture and construction use machines and plant equipment, which by their very nature pose a danger if they are not managed safely.
Blind spots tend to be much larger on these vehicles and include not only the rear and nearside but also the front, especially with elevated driver positions. Terrains are harsh, vehicles are exposed to the elements more aggressively while thick dust and darkness decrease visibility further.
Important Characteristics: The detection capabilities of radar systems are dependent on the nature and size of materials and their orientation within the field of view of the radar. The effectiveness of people and smaller object detection may be impacted by larger, more reflective objects nearby.
Designed to Accurately Detect Objects in Blind Spots
Backsense® heavy-duty radar proximity sensor systems are designed to detect objects in blind spots, significantly reducing incidents. They detect stationary and moving objects, providing the driver with in-cab visual and audible warnings – alerting the operator whose attention cannot be focused on all danger areas. Backsense® obstacle detection sensors work effectively in harsh environments and in poor visibility including darkness, smoke and fog.
Backsense® Radar sensors are available in fixed detection range models and fully programmable models allowing bespoke detection areas and the ability to calibrate-out fixed objects or bodywork.
