Why Tonal Backup Alarms?
Tonal alarms play a critical role in enhancing safety in various environments, from construction sites to urban traffic. These alarms are designed to emit a specific tone that is easily recognizable, cutting through ambient noise to alert pedestrians and workers to the presence of moving vehicles or equipment. The primary reason to use tonal alarms is to reduce the risk of incidents and injuries by providing a clear, audible warning that can be heard over other sounds in the area.
Using tonal alarms is a straightforward and effective measure to improve safety, protect lives, and comply with regulatory standards, making them an essential feature for any operation where vehicles and machinery operate in close proximity to people.

The answer has come in the form of Brigade’s bbs-tek® White Sound® Back Up and Warning Alarms – a revolutionary new generation of alarms that have rapidly superseded the ‘beep beep’ products of the past.
Our bbs alarms are covered by the following patents: AU2007200517, EP1289798B2, CN100488807C, JP4798474B2, NZ522190, GB2345392C, USRE44912
Backup and Warning Alarms
A back up alarm can be installed in any commercial vehicle to warn people in the vehicle’s path that it is moving backwards. Introduced in the 1970s, beeping alarms provided a vital step forward in safety, yet over time they have been shown to have several inherent issues; from their environmental impact to concerns about safety and ability to prevent accidents. There is now a much better alternative to the back up beeper with the development of white noise alarms.
Brigade Electronics – at the forefront of reversing alarm technology since introducing the first reversing and warning alarm models addressed the problems of effectiveness of alarms in urban and work environments.
Quiet Vehicle Sounder (AVAS)
Known as an Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS)
The Quiet Vehicle Sounder warns vulnerable road users of an approaching electric/hybrid vehicle.
Since 2010, Brigade has been involved in the QRTV (Quiet Road Transport Vehicles) working group to establish requirements for a UN standard.
Brigade has developed a multi-frequency Quiet Vehicle Sounder, integrating the patented bbs-tek® technology. bbs-tek® uses a wide range of White Sound® frequencies. This enables anyone in the direct path of the vehicle to instantly locate where and what direction the sound is coming from and take evasive action if required. There is no safer alternative.
